Are you bothered by your frown lines, also called “elevens” in the middle of your brows? They are also known as glabellar lines, and Nabota®, a botulinum toxin treatment, can help to improve moderate to severe frown lines. It is also known as JeuveauTM in the US, and NuceivaTM in Canada and EU.

Anyone with mild to deep frown lines for both males and females from mid-20s are suitable. Speak to your trusted medical professional to see if you are suitable!

The following list are contraindications for Nabota®.13
  • Patients with known hypersensitivity or allergic reactions to this product.
  • Patients who have neuromuscular junctional disorders (e.g. myasthenia gravis, Lambert-Eaton syndrome, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) who may experience exacerbated weakness due to muscle relaxation properties of this product.
  • Pregnant women and nursing mothers.
  • Infection or inflammation at the proposed injection sites.

Some common side effects include transient, mild headache and eyelid ptosis.

 

Rare side effects include nasopharyngitis, upper respiratory tract infection (sinusitis, influenza), bronchitis, urinary tract infection, and hypertension.

Nabota® temporarily restricts your nerves from telling your facial muscles to flex. This in turn helps to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines.
Large-scale global clinical studies for more than 2000 patients were carried out in the US and Europe which showed that Nabota® temporarily improved the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines (glabellar lines). More than 67.5% of patients responded with an improvement in composite score of 2 or more in the Glabellar Line Scale (GLS).6 GLS is used to determine the severity of glabellar lines, where 0 – none, 1 – mild, 2 – moderate, 3 – severe. Another study conducted in Europe and Canada reported that both subjects and investigators were satisfied with Nabota® at all time points – Day 90, Day 120, and Day 150 – based on the Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale (GAIS).7 GAIS is a 5-point scale for assessing global aesthetic improvement in appearance compared to pre-treatment, where 2 – much improved, 1 – improved, 0 – no change, -1 – worse, -2 – much worse. Nabota is also proven to be non-inferior to Onabotulinumtoxin A7, and has studies to support its long-term efficacy for an improvement in composite score of 2 or more in GLS.7
